Born: May 16th, 2000 Thoroughbred/Swedish Warmblood cross. Owner Claire Griffiths.
Owner's Observations:
"At 24 - 36 hours of age noticed contracted tendons, especially on forelimbs, with right leg deviated below the knee and very "over" at the knee. His gait was effected.
May 16th - TB/SWB foal barn with contracted tendons
May 28th - Linsey visited and looked at Mason, suggesting using Untie® and Nutrient Buffer® supplements.
June 1st - First visit by farrier 2 1/2 weeks after birth. Told to call vet in 2 weeks if not improved.
June 15th - Began VR supplements with all my horses.
June 20th - Veterinarian in. Asked which foreleg was deviated below the knee! Suggested some physiological exercises. Told me that other measures would need to be taken if a number of dys went by without improvement.
July 13th - Farrier visit. Commented that he was much improved. Didn't believe "clubfoot" would be an issue as a vet had previously mentioned.
July 25th - increased dose of Untie® to 4 scoops a day. Linsey recommends rasping "forehooves" to level knees and encourage tendons to stretch.
Within days (of going on Vita Royal's product) he was no longer resting his hind end up against posts and such, hence the reason there are only shots of that "pre-treatment". He still "tri-pods", but it's coming. All of the photos are marked on the backs. Treatment began on June 15th, 2000.
I have switched the "bribery" ingredient to hone. He seems to like that better. We did go through quite an awkward stage for a few days when he was VERY difficult to dose. We seemed to have worked through that. I call our sessions "scratch & squirt" (I scratch the itchy spots and he accepts me squirting supplement in his mouth).
The Vet was out to see hime on Day 6. He asked which foreleg was the problem and said that it was so "close" to perfect, not to worry about it. He did give me some physio exercies to help stretch the tendons.
In the last day or so, Mason has been feeling quite good. We had a good bucking and throwing ourselves about episode going from the barn to padock. This morning he was galloping around, kicking, and pawing. He had a spectacular wipe out from full gallop - it rained last night, so he hydroplaned a good 15 to 20 feet. He got right back up and carried on. I never seem to have that video camera when I should!
Once completely healthy, this little guy is going to be a handful and quite the training challenge
From birth, Mason had contracted tendons in his front legs.
He also had a weak behind, as shown with his hocks together. Mason likes to prop himself on the pole for support and often stood like that according to his owner.
June 1st, 2000, pre-treatment. Note that "Mason still props himself on poles for support."
"It was evident that Mason was in really serious trouble" comments his owner.
"There is a dramatic improvement" says her owner. Note front legs and overall stance.
At two months and one week, Mason is showing beautiful improvement and very nice growth. Mason, at left with Pearlon the same day. Notice the angle of his front legs and how they are straightening. All this without a growth inhibiting starvation diet of the obsolete type!

We use as much recycled materials for packaging as we can.
From shredded packing material, to reused packing material, to reused/recycled shipping boxes; we are doing our part to eliminate waste and reduce costs.
Through co-operative corporate relationships, these recycled materials come from other companies that receive products primarily for a retail sales floor, and they don't do much outbound shipping. These companies would ordinarily pay to process their packing waste by weight. Instead, we take that cost burden off their hands (and reduce our own costs) by simply reusing these materials.
We are proud to take part in corporate co-operative initiatives that ease the cost of doing business for the whole Vita Royal community.
